Legal Resources

Are you a criminal justice or pre-law major looking for legal cases? Do you want to find laws related to your other research projects? Are you curious about legal issues in your own life? Start with Westlaw, our premier legal database. Let us know if you need any help locating these laws, statutes, court cases and legal commentary.

  • Federal laws and statutes; the official text of federal laws, supplemented by relevant cases, historical notes, indexes, cross-references, and other annotations
  • All federal and state court cases and legal decisions (including U.S. Supreme Court)
  • State statutes and regulations (all 50 states and D.C., with administrative codes from 44 states)
  • Code of Federal Regulations (CFR; federal administrative regulations)
  • Federal Register (50,000 pages of current regulatory, administrative, and executive materials generated by key federal entities)

While the databases below don't contain laws or statutes, they are useful for finding articles about the legal process, political science, legal communication, and legal commentary.
