How to find . . .: books/e-books

E-books and print books can be searched at the same time in the catalogue. The <Advanced> search allows you to select e-books only (click the term under Material Type or Location)

Finding books and e-books

Books in any library are listed in the catalogue (see the box below).  The PML catalogue lists around 325,000 print books owned by the library and another 117,000 digital books we either own or have access to through subscriptions. None of these are findable through a Web browser or "on the Internet."

Books may be searched by title, by author name (last name first), and by subject. A keyword search will search everything at once, but will bring up material that matches the search string but may not be relevant.

Search @ the Library

Search the catalog for print and e-title items in the library collection

(use the "Keyword" pull-down menu to target your query to a specific data field)

(Use this separate link to search library databases for > articles < <  in journals, magazines, and select newspapers)

PML doesn't have the book? Article isn't available in full text? UTM students and faculty can ask the Interlibrary Loan staff to find it for you. Remember to leave enough lead time!

Why not?

Google Books searches digital books. Massive scanning ended years ago, so the database is limited
