Non-print digital media is an effective alternative to print for disseminating scholarship in some subject areas, such as the performing arts. The library gives preference to the purchase of streaming media and electronic format media as applicable. The Library purchases audiovisual materials supporting the curriculum and for recreational use in physical formats for which it has the required playback equipment. These formats include but are not limited to digital video discs (DVDs) and music and multimedia compact discs. The library only purchases audio compact discs after review by the Library librarian liasion and on very rare occasions.
The Library may assist academic departments with limited allocations by partially subsidizing the purchase of expensive items such as media in series.
