Welcome to Vanguard Theatre, the resident production company of the Department of Visual and Theatre Arts. Open auditions are held for each production, and participation is open to all students and area residents regardless of academic interest.
Two or three major mainstage productions are performed each year as well as a number of lab theatre plays. A wide variety of theatre is performed: from Shakespeare to Shepard, Modernist to Musical. These provide the opportunity for students to participate in acting, stage-managing, and technical aspects of theatre production as well as design and construction of sets and costumes.
A series of original plays written by students in the playwriting classes are presented in the spring. These performances are directed by students from the directing classes.
