All ELA standards from K–12 are placed in one document with a table of contents at the beginning. By presenting the standards in a vertical chart by standard—rather than separately by grade—we are seeking to emphasize how the skills for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language spiral through all of the grade levels, leading to postsecondary and workforce readiness.
The current state science standards (located in the drop-down menus below) were first implemented in classrooms in the 2009-10 school year. The state board adopted new state science standards in October 2016, and they will be implemented in classrooms in the 2018-19 school year.
The state board adopted the current state social studies standards in July 2013. The current social studies standards have recently been through the review process and updated standards will be presented to the State Board of Education for final read in July 2017. If approved, the new social studies standards will be implemented in the 2019-20 school year.
